Welcome to the Nairobi Central Seventh Day Adventist Sabbath School (SS). The SS program runs very seventh (Sabbath) day between 8.00am to 10.00am. During this time we:
- Study the word of God
- Praise God through singing
- Share testimonies
- Offer prayer and supplications to God
What is Sabbath School?
Sabbath school is a time when we study the word of God (The Bible), where the jewels of truth are searched for and rescued from their environment of error, and placed in their true setting in the framework of the gospel. The Sabbath School program is part of the worship services held on the Sabbath day where those who are in fellowship sing songs of praise to God and pray. The word of God is studied through interaction in small groups of 8-10 persons with every person encouraged to contribute and share the lessons they learnt in their private studies.
Who should attend the Sabbath School?
All members of the church should attend the Sabbath School and also bring visitors. Every person whether church member or not is welcome to attend the worship services.
Sabbath School for Youth and Children
The church has enriching programs for the youth and children during the Sabbath School hours.
Where can one get the study material?
The Bible is the sole book under study. To study the word of God systematically, we however use the Sabbath School Bible Study Guides (Lessons) which are issued on a quarterly basis by the Seventh Day Adventist Church. The Lessons can be purchased at the Adventist Book Centre at the church compound as well as accessed online.
‘’The student of the Sabbath school should in earnest dig deep and search the word of God with the greatest care for the precious gems of truth contained in the Bible. The privileges and opportunities which we all now have of becoming intelligent in regard to the Scriptures should not be neglected. God would have those who profess to be His followers thoroughly furnished with proof of the doctrines of His word. When and where can this be better obtained than at the Sabbath school? ...’’—The Review and Herald, November 28, 1878.
Hebrews 10: 24-25:”24And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 25Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much more, as ye see the day approaching.”
“The Sabbath school is an important branch of the missionary work, not only because it gives to young and old a knowledge of God’s word, but because it also awakens in them love for its sacred truths, and a desire to study them for themselves; above all, it teaches them to regulate their lives by its holy teachings.” Testimonies on Sabbath school work: 109,110.
